Dialight to supply energy saving retro-fit LED traffic signals to the Turkish market.
Applied LED lighting technology specialist Dialight plc (LSE: DIA.L) today announced that it is to supply 20,000 of its state-of-the-art, central light source LED traffic signals to the Turkish market. Initial shipments have already commenced and will continue into 2010. While this order is substantial, it represents only a small percentage of the region’s installed base of traffic lights which represents a significant market opportunity for the Dialight Signals and Illumination business.
Offering up to ten years’ life expectancy, Dialight’s LED traffic signals deliver major savings for local authorities by reducing the need for expensive maintenance and avoiding the disruption to traffic that is inevitable with signal maintenance. Using less than 10 watts in comparison with the 50 watts used in signals by the average bulb, the LED units also significantly reduce power consumption and carbon emissions.
Dialight CEO, Roy Burton, comments: “I am delighted to announce yet another significant order for our central light source LED traffic signal products. This reinforces the clear message that our cutting edge LED technology is being accepted around the world for the immediate and long term value it can deliver.”
