Grand Prize

Super Smart Home by - balearicdynamics
Top Member, Enrico, won us over with his Super Smart Home Autimation project, using the PSoC6 as the main hub to his AWS IoT Smart home. Using cross platform MQTT and AWS for the main infrastructure, creating his own 3D printed cases and remote ESP8266 nodes as well as UI for the PSoC6. The large amount of cross platform inter connectivity helped the judeges select this project as the overall winner.

Intelligent Mailbox by -saicheong
Sai comes in second with their Smart Mailbox. This remote mailbox seems fairly simple on first glance but the complexity within really blew the mind of the judges.
Firstly the project would light up and inform you when a letter arrives, this passes the data over AWS to a telegram service, email or SMS, Fairly simple but well done.

We had a 2 week extension at the end of this challenge and some challengers who were finished and downed tools, Sai decided to use the remaining time at the end of the challenge to Train a Neural Network with sounds of dogs playing and barking. Training this mailbox to know if a dog is barking aggressively and then to warn the mail carriers of this.

Honorable Mentions

These projects won't be winning the top spot prizes but we loved their projects so much we wanted to publicize their amazing work.

sami9974

Samyak created a Billboard Rental System. Allowing users to buy advertisement space on a website, AWS would handle the data and the advertisements would be displayed on location for the time period paid for.

It is really awesome. Waiting Amazon to deliver some tools today I have explored the details of mechanics to see how to set a reliable automatization to the movements.

That tiny lathe looks awesome. It reminds me of my first foray into CNC which was converting a similarly tiny (but accurate) Proxxon MF70 milling machine.

From what I've seen countless of times, the first projects almost always involve making tools with your new tool... to use with your new tool, kinda like toolception image

Yes, a Lathe is a very versatile tool and will open up your projects to many more ideas and features -and generally everything related to subtractive manufacturing. Personally, I've been eyeing for one, and given the world's situation, I think I'll get it sooner than later.

... and you are right, the amounts of hacks you can work on your new little machine are countless: adding a DRO, power feed, tachometer, stepper motors are just the beginning.
