Getting Smaller
The cordless drill motor is very effective at generating power but its size is is too big to be put into a TV remote control unit.
On my quest for a smaller generator I came across a hand cranked LED torch.
The generator is a very good size. Its winding are made with very fine enamelled copper wire.
The wire is as fine as the wire used for old AM radio bar antennas.
I have added some tap leads to it enabling me to measure its outputs and use it for other purposes.
Here is a snapshot of the output.
It is nowhere near as powerful as the cordless drill motor but it is definitely useable.
Here it is powering the STK3700.
Unlike the cordless drill where a half turn is sufficient to start the STK3700, the LED torch generator (with its LEDs disconnected from the circuit) required about 6 or more cranks.
