In this blog, I will calculate the non-ideal parameters of the inductor and do some simulation based experiments for the inductor.
For calculating the inductance and Rdc, I will use my Tenna Handheld LCR meter.
I have chosen the 1mH inductor. As per the datasheet, it has a Rdc of around 2.1 ohms.
Next, I do measurements using the LCR meter.
The inductance and resistance measurements are shown in images below
It can be seen that the values from the datasheet match with the measured inductance and resistance.
Next, I will do the Q factor measurement and use the inductor as RFC above it's SRF and show the performance of inductor as RF choke above the SRF.
