1 Introduction

As professional electrical engieer for 25 years, I have complete several projects and experiments in community. That is realy enjoyful learning by project and exploring innovative features from vendors.

This goal of this experiment test output of different common mode chokes in a GaN 65W Mobile charger.

2 The expeiment component

2.1 The Magnetic Components Experimenter’s  Kit

Refer to Experimenting with Magnetic Components: About the Competition for details. Mostly the CMC shall be used.

2.2 GaN charger,

now Disassembled

PI GaN SC1933 with the following application diagraph, As many as CMC shall be test for the output performance.

3 How to experiment

3.1 One Oscilliation shall be used for waveform,

The EMC research would be interting , but not this time. Obviously that is challenging task , almost fully copper-covered.

3.2 The assumed scheme shall be,

That part is coverd by white Silica gel , I shall removed them for details.

4 Summary

This experiment is interesting, but I would like to share more on how the GaN reduce the size and performance.

Another interesting part is fast chargine control chip, which is covered in this experiment. I share some datasheet as attached. Sorry I can not find version other than chinese now, but the engineers can read useful diagram and parameter with ease.
