The Thermal Switches Experimenter’s Kit:-

The kit consist of thermal reed switch and thermal guard switch as shown in the figure 1 bellow

Some question that needs to be answered

What are thermal reed switch ?

Thermal Reed Switch is a highly reliable, precise temperature-sensitive switch. Its unique proprietary design features a magnet and a temperature-sensing soft ferromagnetic substance called Thermorite®. The material’s magnetic flux density decreases as the temperature increases turning it into a paramagnetic substance at the Curie temperature.

What is  Thermorite ?

Thermorite is ferri-magnetic material that changes its magnetic property rapidly at its Curie temperature.

What is a reed switch ?

The reed switch is an electrical switch operated by an applied magnetic field.

Working of reed switch ?

The switching mechanism is comprised of two ferromagnetic blades, separated by only a few microns. When a magnet approaches these blades, the two blades pull toward one another. Once touching, the blades close the normally open (NO) contacts, allowing electricity to flow.

Working of thermal reed switch ?

Thermal reed switch are either switch on or off depending upon the temperature and the type of thermal switch. In blog 3 you will see experiment with various thermal reed switches.

What are thermal guard switch ?

Thermal Guard (OHD) are temperature-sensing switches composed of a magnet and a temperature-sensing soft ferromagnetic substance called Thermorite. This material’s saturation magnetic flux density decreases as the temperature increases, and it turns into a paramagnetic substance at its Curie temperature

Anything more looking in the kit ?
