Waterproofing the RJ45 Connection

Actually, I was sitting here looking at the panel connector and now I'm a bit concerned.  The picture in the post was from Digi-Key.

Here is the view looking into the panel connector:

It seems like the screw holes in the backshell are in the wrong corners.

Even more confusing is that here is the picture from Newark which has the interface piece flipped around - but the backshell holes also flipped?  There must be a removable piece on the end of the rubber backshell:

So, maybe a conversation with a Product Specialist is required.  I think this could be made to work.

I got a confirmation from Amphenol CS that the MUSBRAHD2241SK is the correct mating hood for our RJ45 jack and use a standard RJ45 plug.

The holes should not match with the socket holes if this part is fitted, because the two holes on the socket are for screwing to the enclosure. The holes on the cover also screw into the enclosure, but in two different holes, according to the diagram below. The diagram mentions clearance for "receptacle panel screw" which is for the screws for the RJ45 socket. I believe it doesn't interfere with the mounting of the socket, it covers the cable entry side if the enclosure or environment does not provide any other protection. 

Yes, that makes sense.  I did not think about extra holes in the enclosure to mount the cable boot.  The picture from the Newark site confused me.

If I think about this like PC D connectors mount  - I need standoffs on the enclosure side and thumbscrews on the boot.

In the first blog, I made a video in which I immersed the enclosure in water, and at first glance, the water infiltrated next to the RJ45 plug. I tried to find the most suitable screws for mounting. This still needs some work.

Any update on when these will ship?  I need to modify my enclosure before I start any assembly, but want to wait until I have the actual RJ45 hood.
