Turning Lattepanda on without using power button

This windows installation seems fragile to me... I think I have seen a warning in documentation not to power off the system without shutting down Windows  first... Did you reinstall using system images from their site? Is it as straightforward as they describe it? I have reinstalled it with Ubuntu, but as a Windows license is paid for I would like to have way back if needed...

Basically I was trying to clean some space in the limited eMMC and ended with a system that doesn't work anymore. I tried to reinstall using the image from their site but doesn't work because everything was damaged. So, I reinstalled the bios and then windows, it's straightforward if you know what files you have to use, but at first I was using the incorrect ones so I wasn't having any progress. The user manual that comes in the Lattepanda box mentions the Z8300 but the actual processor that it's in the board is the CR700 z8350.

Did you previously link the device to your Microsoft account?  I was wondering how it remembered your activation key.

It reminds me of my Windows 10 tablet - it had disk so small that windows updates failed from insufficient disk space - had to add an USB storage just for installing Windows patches (when it wasn't complaining that USB storage can't be used)...

maybe it works  like modern laptops? - they seem to have OEM key somewhere in the BIOS so license key is no longer needed...

I think that it can be stored in some memory not overwritten by BIOS update - in other way every BIOS update will clear all individual data of the computer (including serial number, service tag, etc.)

No, I didn't have to do anything with the activation key

It must be stored in some place that it's read only 

Good to know in case I need to re-install.  I imagine that we are all running headless (those of us that have the lattePanda inside the enclosure), but I am careful to always shutdown Windows before turning off power.  I do that as a matter of course with any OS, but I imagine there will always be potential issues with power failure...

maybe you were bitten by the same problem as I have experienced - manual says: insert usb disk, cycle power and it will reinstall.

It assumes BIOS boot order of: "USB drive then internal disk", but in my case it was "internal disk then USB drive". Had to change boot order and reinstall gone as stated in the manual...
