Seeking Feedback on Kit and Prizes for Design Challenge

imageHi All. I want to get some feedback on a Design Challenge I'm running.

It's the Eye on Intelligence Design Challenge.

It's an embedded vision challenge, using the Digilent Arty Z7 Dev board.

I'm offering test equipment as prizes (digital oscilloscope, handheld oscilloscope, dc power supplies, etc.) Click on the link above to see the prizes.

I'm interested in getting feedback on the kits and prizes:

I'm the only person left in my team after the recent layoffs. While I'm relieved to keep my job, it means a lot more work. To escape the stress, I will be excited to start the Eye on Intelligence Challenge…

Thanks for the congratulations! I didn't remember that technique of using FFT to find edges. It's spectacular and makes a lot of sense. I just did a test with OpenCV and numpy that can be easily transferred…

I submitted my application for the challenge! I came up with an idea for a smart scale that weighs bulk fruit in the supermarket. It classifies fruits using embedded vision and create barcodes right on…

I don't think the kit or prizes need to be expanded. They are all nice.

If the kit was expanded maybe a power supply or a breadboard kit would be useful.

For me, FPGA projects will need to wait until I acquire a computer with more memory....Relaxed

It is good point. Since Vivado grows every year, 8 TB SSD and 64 GB RAM stick should be included. Smiley

    (end of irony)

I think adding a power supply would be helpful in general.  Maybe a 12V at 1-2A wall wart.

When you factor in the resources needed to edit the video blogs, it really starts to add up...Relaxed

I think the prizes are fine.

If we're going for vision... where's the camera?  Mayber I missed it.  I only read the data sheet once.

It's got HDMI in and out, so the simplest approach to the challenge would be to take a video stream from the HDMI in, process it, and then send it out of the HDMI with an overlay. That's got some advantages over working with a camera: the variety of different kinds of material and being able to repeat clips for testing being the two obvious ones.

I lot of you voted for expanding the kit. Adding this should be doable: 12V at 1-2A wall wart.

    Any other suggestions?

I selected others for "Do prizes need to be expanded". I incline more towards software field. The amount of time I need a top of the line power supply station is negligible and I don't have much need for digital oscilloscope either as I deal with digital signals that has its own analyser. So prizes that can be used by non hardware design engineers would be appealing.

my FPGA skills are pretty barebones so i'm not participating, but it would be cool to see what the participants do with a camera, so i would suggest adding a camera module to the kit. nevermind, i just saw the other post which now considers a camera as part of the kit

Any suggestions for useful software prizes? Video editing software perhaps? A DAW?
