Hi,

I wanted to try the MSP430FR5969 Launchpad yesterday, after receiving it.

I am a Mac user, and it seems CCS is only available for Windows and Linux.
Because of that, I tried using Energia (v13) instead, but it seems that specific Launchpad isn't properly supported either.

tilib: MSP430_OpenDevice: Unknown device (error = 5)

tilib: device initialization failed

So finally, I've come across embedXcode, which I plan to give a try this evening.

What are the recommended software tools for Mac users wanting to work with Launchpads (apart from deploying Win/Linux virtual machines) ?

Update: Same error with embedXcode as with Energia

Hi,
MSP-EXP430FR5969 should be supported well by Energia: http://energia.nu/pin-maps/guide_msp430fr5969launchpad/

Anyway, I think what you could also try in this case is to install e.g. VM Ware Player, run Ubuntu in the virtual machine, and install CCS for Linux in the virtual machine http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS
