One more thing: the Nucleo board, Bluetooth board and sensor board form a reference application when stacked together: FP-SNS-MOTENV1 - STM32 ODE function pack for IoT node with BLE connectivity and environmental and motion sensors - STMic…
I would recommend this as a starting point, since it allows to stream all the measured sensor data (also incorporating a few advanced STM libraries for motion and gesture recognition etc.) to a cell phone. An application is available on Google Play and Apple Store. This allows to quickly verify the functionality of all sensors. (The are also precompiled hex files in the download bundle.)
All the Nucleo boards are now preloaded with the mbed firmware, meaning the device connected to a PC is installed as a mass storage device and programming is done via drag and drop of the hex file.

I would just like to point all potential applicants to 2 great and free MOOCs by STM:
STM32L4 MOOC and STM32Cube basics MOOC .
It might help to get some information about the used HW and is SW ecosystem around it.
