Want to discuss Light Up Your Life on Discord?

As we approach the last couple weeks of the design challenge's build period, the element14 Community team has set up a Discord channel where this design challenge can be discussed. 

This is not a replacement for the competition group here on the community, but you might find Discord useful for:

  • Quick and easy, instant, back-and-forth conversation
  • Somewhere to talk through a problem
  • A space to share small / incremental / casual updates

  • Are you really sure this is a good idea ?

    There is value in the design challenges for the whole E14 community and the community members who are not actual challengers often makes contributions. By moving the discussions (or part of them) to a group in another place a lot of this benefit is likely to be lost.

    I have attempted to use Discord in the past and find it irritating and  confusing.

    I took a look and I don't think there is any actual content in the LUYL channel yet - is that the case or just that I can't make sens of Discord ?

    What I like about E14 is that so much is in the one place - it seems a shame to dilute that experience.

    I'm not particularly a fan of Discord myself, so I suppose we'll see how much it gets used. I do prefer having the "slower" back and forth on the forum rather than the immediacy of instant messaging (which could get overwhelming and distracting). But I agree with   that it might be better to keep everything in the one place rather than involving yet another system - that keeps everything open and visible for all.

    Another reason for sticking here is that sharing code on Discord isn't particularly good as far as I know ...

    I think it's good to try new things Slight smile

    I see conversation on Discord as something that can happen in addition to discussion directly on the community here in the group.

    There is no content per se right now because we have just kicked this off. Ultimately this is just a bit of an experiment to see if folks find it valuable.
