Solar Powered Smart Composter - Design & Component  (Blog1)

Hi Everyone,

These days people realize farming is very important to live in this world. To make us healthy we need to stick to good organic foods and so many people started organic farming.

To start with, a small garden  is the best place to start your farming. To help them I'm making this "Solar Powered Smart Composter".

This is my 1st blog on my project, my project idea has been refined and the components were identified to make it.  In earlier i was thinking to spin the composter with DC motor

due to some complexity i had to drop this feature for now.

Overall Concept:

The overall concept here is to add smartness to the existing composter setup.  I'm taking the CY8CKIT-062S2-43012 Kit to which is main controller

for this entire setup. The power for the board is given from the Li-Ion battery and the battery is charged from the solar panel. Finally the board setup (PCB)

will be wrapped into a 3D printed casing box. E Ink display is used to show the composter temperature level and time. All the composter information

(spin/day left/temperature/load/level/battery) is sent to cloud (AWS) periodically. This data is used to alert /notify the user about the composter status. Also

user can access the detail via Bluetooth.

Components:

The identified components to build this project:

1. PSoCTm 6S2 + AIROCTm Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Pioneer Kit (CY8CKIT-062S2-43012)

2. TLV493D 3DSense Shield2Go (TLE493D Shield2Go)

3. MLX90614 Temperature sensor & Tilt Switch
4. Eink Display Shield board (CY8CKIT-028-EPD)

5. Wireless Charging & Solar Panel

6. Li-Ion 3.7v battery

7.Envirocycle  Composter (https://www.envirocycle.com/ )

The next blog (blog2) tells about the sensing part in this project.
