Description of the Device

This device is fixed on one side of injured elbow, Accel/Gyro sensors fixed on this side of equipment can provide the motion status of arm. With pattern matching arithmetic, the movement of the arm is calculated. Base on the results, the direction and force applied on the actuator shall be calculated. Converted signal triggers PWM control on motors.

This device can add extra power for arm movement,  and reduce pains if the elbow is still hurt.

Original design has more than two sensors installed. Precise sampling in RTOS shall be applied to reduce errors. So, I revise the design and improve the arithmetic to achieve similar result with only one sensor. Refer to the following sketch, image

Great advice on this design. Just like your keenly observation, in fact, there are two rotary axis for form arm movement. Two motors is needed if control both.

As far as I know from preliminary research,  this design is the first attempt on movement assistance for elbow or joints. And now I know why, the principle and control logic is very complex, just to fulfill this simple idea. Therefore, I would like to achieve final goal step by step. This design is the second version. My first design has been chosen for final review of a Hardware Design Contest.

I am trying to improve the design gradually. And I will try to explain that how to alleviate this twist and other possible problem during the process.

The only problem is that I have not received the Design Pack, due to Oversea Delivery, I guess so.

Thanks a lot and I will keep pushing my design even after this challenge.

You might want to consider using a motor on each side.

Your current design might cause the elbow joint to twist.

You could also probably use velco straps to attach the device to the arm, though using a couple of solid bands for better strength distribution.
