BLOG# 2- Design - Weather Remote Monitoring System
This blog will include the Design of my Idea. It will describe my design specifications for the implementation of my idea for a Weather Remote Monitoring System. The design will include the components of the Bundle supplied for this challenge. The design will show how the components are used together to design a solution to implement my idea.
This blog is part of a blog series for the N-gaged Design Challenge. The sponsor of the challenge OMEGA, has supplied a Layer N Ecosystem Bundle that is used to implement my design.
Design Specification
- The wireless gateway (GW-001-3), will be located inside my home.
- It will be connected to my home network.
- It will be connected to the internet
- Data will travel from the Gateway over the internet to the Layer-N Cloud.
- Then the data will be displayed on a dashboard for visualization.
- Alarms will also be setup for temp ranges.
- The USB connector is used to connect to the Temp Smart Probe over the USB to Smart Probe Interface cable (SP-005-01)
- The Female connector (M12) on the other end of SP-005-01 will be connected to a yet to be determined Thermocouple or RTD probe. To measure the environment around the gateway .
- The M12 cable can also be connected to the SYNC software on the PC to configure and display Data.
- The Wireless Sensor (SS-002-1) will be placed in one of the two enclosures and place remotely to monitor the environment .
- The SS-002-01 is paired wirelessly to the Gateway.
- Sensor data is sent from the device is sent to the gateway then to the N-Layer Cloud
- The enclosures used are:
- 1554UGY IP66 Water Resistant
- 1554H2GYCL IP68 Watertight Water submergible
- The on-board sensors will be used to monitor the temp, Humidity, barometric pressure and the Light level of the remote environment.
- A micro USB cable can be used to connect to the SYNC software on the PC to configure and display Data.
- The Terminal block on the SS-002-01 can be connected to a yet to be determined probe to measure the remote environment..

The following diagram depicts my design for how the pieces of the N-Layer bundle will be used to implement my idea
Dashboard Design
It seems from my review of the N-Layer Cloud, that it does not have the capabilities to design a Dashboard like the Arduino cloud does. It looks like the data on the connected device represented on the interface are put together dynamically on screen blocks based on the way the device is configured. Therefore there is no way to design a Dashboard as far as I can see.
