In this blog #2, I am going to explain how to accomplish the following:
- Create an Omega cloud account
- Setup the Gateway and register it at the Omega cloud
- Setup the Smart Sensor and pairing to the Gateway
- Install Omega Sync and configure the Smart Sensor
Create a Layer N Cloud Account
Visit the cloud.omega.com website and sign up an Omega cloud account by completing the registration process.
Setup the Gateway and register it at the Omega cloud
From the cloud homepage, click the Add Gateway. Key in the Gateway ID and Registration ID.
You can find these info printed on the label located on the bottom the Gateway device. Once lyou have registered your Gateway, a yellow warning icon will appear next to the Gateway. You can then power up the Gateway. The LED light on the pairing button will blink red to indicate that iti is booting up. Once it is connectd to the internet, the light will stay a solid green.
If you have trouble connecting your Gateway to the internet, this link may help. And this happened to my Gateway, I downloaded an updated version of the firmware from the following link:
https://omegaupdates.azurewebsites.net/Firmware/GW/gw-001-3-na_v1.0.24.bin
I accessed to the Gateway internal Web UI, uploaded and install the downloaded firware, then reboot the device. Below are the screen captures of local web login and setting pages.
And the Gatewat now can connect to the internet.
Setup the Smart Sensor and pairing to the Gateway
Install the antenna and insert 2x AA batteries into the battery compartment. The Smart Sensor will power up to a solid orange LED light in the center of the pairing button. Press the pairing button once and quickly press the pairing button on the Gateway once. The Smart Sensor will start to connect to the Gateway. Once the Smart Sensor successfully connected to the Gateway, your Smart Sensor will appear on the Layer N Cloud interface and begin transmitting data.
Install Omega Sync and configure the Smart Sensor
Download the Omega Sync software and unzip the software to a folder. The following shows the content of the installation folder:
Run the OmegaVCP Setup program to start the installation.
After the installation, you will find an Omega Sync shortcut icon appears on the Windows desktop.
To configure the Smart Sensor, connect the device to your PC using an USB cable. Important: Do not leave the battery in the device if powering the device by USB. Once the device is detected, you can configure the device.
With Omega Sync, you can view data captured realtime or a selected period of time.
