Growing Old waiting on SDK to start

It's been a little over 10 minutes (according to my cellphone's clock) since I clicked "Launch SDK" from Vivado and the progress bar is almost halfway filled.

I'm following the tutorials in the "MPSoC_HW_2018_3_student_complete" zip file, the "Lab_instructions" directory. This is lab 2, page 24.

This is on a machine with and Intel Core I7-3770 rated at 3.4 Ghx, 16 GB of memory running Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS 64-bit.

Seriously?????

I'm supposed to create software with tools that have greater than 10 minute load times?

This is demotivating and annoying.

Update: The same thing occurred on my VM today. I didn't wait for 10 minutes (probably 2 to 3 minutes before I shutdown the VM). After rebooting the VM and re-start the SDK, everything works again. I think the SDK may have a bug (or may be inherited from Eclipse).

Something is wrong with your install. I am using a i5-6th Gen on a laptop with 8gb of memory and my SDK starts in about 5-10 seconds.

Strange, I just had this happen to me, as well. I'm not sure what fixed it. I tried launching manually via command line after it hung up. It seemed to hang up for a moment, but ended up loading shortly after. Then I closed out and tried opening again via Desktop shortcut, and it worked.

I've never used Ultra96 , but have used the Xilinx SDK for other Zynq devices. I've never find it to be particularly slow. I think something else is up.

It didn't take that much time even on my VM, but I am using Ubuntu 16.04 not 18.04. It seems something not quite right to me.
