After receiving my package on Friday evening and unboxing all the Raspberry Pi goodies in the element14 brown box .. And after being overcome by happiness ! looking at the awesome Pi 7" display , I knew the first thing that I had to do was to 3D print a holder/Stand for the screen.
So , here you go !! download the 3 STL files attached and 3D print yourself a stand for your Pi 7" screen. The STL file (PlacardPiIOT.stl) is optional which connects the two legs.
And connected at the back of the display is Raspberry Pi B+ .To attach the legs of the stand to the Pi Display you will need 4-40x3/8 screws that you can get at your local hardware store.
{gallery:width=900,height=400,autoplay=true} 3D Printed Stand for Pi Display |
---|
Front: 3D printed stand |
Top: Power and audio jack connected from the top |
Legs after 3D Printing: to attach the legs to the stand you will need 4-40x3/8 screws |
Back: Display connected to a Raspberry Pi B+ |
All the part above where printed in 1.75 mm PLA and here are some suggested setting silcer settings
- Layer height for the legs:0.3 mm
- Infill: 20%
- Temperature : 205 C (i am using Hatchbox filament, please check you filament manufacture site for your filament )
- Printing the 3 Stl files took be about 50 mins..
- To paint the letter, you can use Uni Paint markers
Now, once you have loaded the SD card with the latest version of Raspbian Jessie , you will observe that the OS/Desktop loads up side down, with the setup as shown in the pictures above. Basically, you can turn the display ,but I found that adding the power cable and audio cable from the top makes it much easier, as shown in the pictures above.
Now to solve the upside-down issue you need to add the following line to the config.txt file, if you have a wireless keyboard connected open the terminal and run the following command
sudo nano /boot/config.txt
and then add the following line to the file
lcd_rotate=2
At this point, I would like to take a moment to thank element14 for sending out the awesome hardware for PiIoT challenge ...
