This week I did the first steps in getting the project started.
- Installed Raspbian on the Pi 3
- connected the 7" Touchscreen display to the Pi
Every thing went flawlessly. I mainly did the same steps as rhavourd in ([Pi IoT] Hangar Central #3 -- Unboxing the Challenge Kit), but didn't make such nice video's / blog post.
Just a note on the I2C connections, these are not needed for the Pi 3, since they are in the DSI interface cable.
Here are some images of the result:
Now I have the Pi 3 running, I need a case, in which also the other Pi and two cameras can be mounted.
I found a very nice one, the Smarti Pi Touch, which also includes a case for the camera, The case includes the popular LEGO compatible camera case that works with the Pi camera. It has a lego compatible back and can attach to the case on the back lego plate or the front if you choose to have LEGO compatibility on the front. This will make it very suitable for the application.
I have to think about how to connect the second Pi and Camera.
I will order this case next week, and try to get an extra camera case for my second camera.
stay tuned!
