PiCasso Design Challenge: About This Challenge

 

From art installation to home decoration with the Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+.

 

Integrate the low-cost Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ into your project for the chance to win a prize package worth up to $2,100.

 

The Raspberry Pi Foundation, in collaboration with element14, would like to introduce the PiCasso Design Challenge.  The PiCasso Design Challenge will choose 15 sponsored challengers to receive a Challenger Kit for FREE.

 

The challengers will use the Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ to create master pieces or works of art.  Challengers can either push their boundaries by using the computing power of Pi as the brains of their artistic work or to improve the aesthetics of their surroundings.

 

Example applications could include:

 

• Raspberry Pi art installation

• Camera vision processing art

• Internet connected installation

• Interactive wall paper

• Room lighting control

• Gallery control system

• Mobile VR experience

 

But anyone can join the Challenge as a non-sponsored Challenger.

 

Here's how: Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ and integrate them into your project, as well as post 10 blogs about your design journey in the PiCasso Design Challenge space (tagging your blogs 'PiCasso').

 

 

What are Design Challenges?

Design Challenges are 15-week-long build challenges where applicants submit a project idea to a panel of judges. The top 15 are sent the official challengers build kit and spend the next 15 weeks building and blogging about it on the element14 community. After the 15 weeks are over, the judges choose which projects and blogs deserve the prizes and glory that comes with being a Design Challenge winner. Every challenge has a theme and a kit partner, and we run a Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ themed Design Challenge once per year.

 

The deadline for project application submissions is 1st March 2019.

 

All Challengers must build their projects in accordance with the Challenge's Terms and Conditions. All projects must include the New Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+.

  • These are the times when I wished there were more hours in a day and more days in a week.

     

    I had a brother who was an artist before passing and was working on some Maker Art style pieces he did not finish.  I've thought about taking one and finishing it with my touches on it but just have not got around to it.  This seems like the perfect opportunity to start on that path. 

     

    Steve Jobs has been quoted saying:

    “It is in Apple’s DNA that technology alone is not enough—it’s technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the results that make our heart sing.”

     

     

    I think their products have proven that vision is in full effect.
