Hello everyone! This is my first entry into the Pi Chef Design Challenge that I am collaborating on with dougw. This is also my first time entering into a contest and I am looking forward to the challenge and learning some new things.
As mentioned in Doug's first blog(https://www.element14.com/community/community/design-challenges/blog/2018/01/21/the-spice-of-pi-blog-doug-1), I will be doing the software for this project. For this blog, I am going to be starting out simple and just doing a quick unboxing blog of the Google AIY kit.
In this first picture, you can see the lovely box that the kit comes in. You can also see the Pi3 that I will be using in the project.
Now the opened box and the soon to be ignored manual...
The most interesting part of the box:
On the left hand side are the wires to connect the mic/speaker board to the Voice Hat; the top middle board is the actual Voice Hat; middle bottom is the mic/speaker board; top right is the speak; middle right is the push button; and outside the box at the bottom, is the cardboard case.
And finally, the kit fully assembled...
Because we need to interface to the actual voice board to make the electrical connections, this is most likely how my kit will spend the next weeks of doing this project...
I going to keep this entry short because there are better pictures and documentation of the assembly of the kit on other websites which can be reached with a simple search. Also the building of the kit is not the focus of the project, but the kit is going to be the main interface to the hardware being developed.
My next entry will outline what I see the Pi doing software wise, and detail some of the "nice to haves" that I will attempt to do if time permits.
