Background
Badminton is a popular sport in my country and we have produced various champions like Lee Chong Wei (in fact his family has a house at the same housing estate i stay in). Few people know that badminton shuttle *** is the world fastest racket sport Worlds Fastest - Oceania Badminton Confederation - SportsTG , where 332km/s has been recorded. Question is, how do we produce such high speed, what is the speed of swing or acceleration needed? I am far from being a good badminton player myself, but that doesn't stop my children who love to play it at my field. Luckily, my wife was a university team player, and she does have some basic theory to share. Example, one have to 'bend' our hand to control the shuttle facing. I always can't do it properly. Sometimes i think whether there is a analytical way to record and analyze a player's stroke.
Video analytics is a way but is out of reach for us now. The Think ON design challenge has sparks my thought that it may be possible to use the
RSL10-SENSE-GEVK to do it. |
The is to produce a wearable that act as datalogger for the player. Data is collected real-time automatically and can be referenced for continuous training to improve the game through data playback analysis.
It will be something that we can tight on our hand, leg, body and even the racket (but i think that might introduce imbalance) and let us record data at specific body part for specific training target we want to target (for example getting the right angle for a smash)
Unboxing
i get the RSL10−SENSE−DB−GEVK debug version that comes with the Segger JLink debugger
a good place to start up is at https://www.onsemi.com/products/connectivity/wireless-rf-transceivers/rsl10
to setup, we can follow https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/EVBUM2614-D.PDF ,
