"A Minor(ity) Report"
I have been working on an interface board between the SimpleLink WiFi CC3000/Fraunchpad technology (SWiFT for short) combination and existing appliances to enable them to be remotely controlled.
To do this, where possible I will retain the appliances' original functionality and Internet enable them.
This has been accomplished my second appliance which currently is under wraps until I'm ready to present it.
It operates normally but also but can also be controlled by SWiFT.
This picture may or may not give you a hint.
(Another hint: It's not all my crappy soldering being displayed here.)
This brings me mention two important clarifications:
1. "A Soldering Iron is not a diagnostic or test tool!"
2. "Electricity doesn't judge a solder joint's connectivity by the way it looks."
The appliance has been reverse engineered to the degree where appropriate tap points are identified (in the identical fashion that I used for the Nokia 5110 phone).
I've also used an isolation strategy ensuring that the appliance remains electrically isolated from SWiFT.
This is not just for my safety but it also minimises the risk of blowing up my one and only Fraunchpad.
