Hope all the participants are having a good time.
This week was a busy week for us. The hardware has been ordered for germination chamber
1) Am industrial rack 3'X2' in area. Six rows vertically
2) Each stack to have 3 CFL tubes for lighting - these will be connected to relays. The relays will then be interfaced with EZR32
3) Air conditioner - The area is 4'X4', so we have ordered a 1 tonne air conditioner. We will add a basic temperature controller to maintain the temperature at 23 degree celcius
4) Temperature controller - this will be connected to the air conditioner
5) Seeding trays
The plan this week is to assemble the hardware as and when it arrives. Also, waiting for the kits to arrive - we have never worked on EZR32 so keen on getting cracking on it. Will try and run sample code provided and try to control a relay using the same.
Further to this, main section of the farm will be planned. We are looking at buying significant amount of pipes for carrying the water and plants as well as industrial racks for supporting the pipes. This, we think, is going to look like the farms covered in news report in abandoned semiconductor factories in Japan and around the world. I am sure most of you have seen it. Further to that, we are planning a two layer dutch pot system for vines like tomato and cucumber.
To the farming community - Please provide suggestions on leafy plants that can be grown in NFT systems. We are currently thinking Lettuce and Strawberry - although looking for suggestions for more crops that are possible in vertical farming systems.
