Soy Beans Man.... Soy Beans

*edited*

Okay, so still working on the other blog I said I was working on last week.(Have to change stuff maybe image) However, I was having this conversation with a friend about soy beans, and it turns out they grow really well in minimal sunlight, nutrients, and work. I am pretty lazy and there is a much bigger market for soybeans than lettuce.(Soybeans are the fifth most produced crop in the world) Soybeans provide many mroe nutrients, provide far less plant waste problems, and require the least amount of work from me. More to follow once I look through more info about soybeans... Plus, my solar panels can only gather so much energy, so I would prefer to spend minimum amounts on lighting. A problem with soybeans though is that they take quite a bit of time to grow, so I will have to figure out exactly what they mean by harvesting your plants. All in all though, if I can get past the time restrictions, soy beans remain my top choice over lettuce because they can self-pollinate and a light breeze from mini-acs(probably evaporation based) should be enough to help with the few flowers.

The winter here transitions to summer quite abruptly, especially nowadays it seems.  My lettuce almost always bolts.  I did not know there were varieties like this.

I don't know much about this, though I am learning much from you, the 'shut-up already, Don' light is starting to come on.  Yes, there is one.

I think that in fair concentrations, the plant (soy) is rather allergenic, nasty to be around.

Generally, beans are the gardener's bargain.  They have lotsa protein and are short-seasoned and undemanding of their environment.

If anything is as rewarding in terms of return/effort as a bean plant,it would probably have to be a perennial.

Soy beans have a much higher market.(5th most produced crop in the world) they also have much higher nutrition contents, cost more per weight, and self reproduce... (Not sure if red beans do this as well). Also, soy beans can easily be converted into dairy replacements.(soy milk and other stuff), but then again, we have to use adriana lettuce:(

Then why not red beans?  You can make chilli with red beans.

Hopefully, I'll start the model and just make it bigger by the end of the week, since aquaponics requires at least a few weeks to get set up on the living parts
