I am going to make a mobile media cooler for the summer. I would like to use this to act as the media center that can play movies and games While we relax in the outdoors. My kids are outdoorsy  and I am not. So this would help me compromise.

I would use it in my classroom with my 4th graders to stream educational content through an old projector, showing them that you can create things yourself and don't have to go the traditional route that everyone else takes.

Hello, My name's Dan, I'm 28 and am an amature / hobbyist electronic engineer however I'm going to submit this application on behalf of my 3 kids (Grace age 10, Hope age 8 and Robbie age 3)...

Every summer we, as a family, take on one large "summer science project", this year we're going to space (and back)! I've recently acquired my HAM license for UHF tracking / live transmission of first person video and will be sending a 6 meter weather balloon up to [a target] altitude of 110,000ft. On board will be two different visible spectrum cameras and a near IR camera. The two visible cameras will record video and the NIR cam will take a still frame every 3-5 seconds. (Note one visible camera pointing down to earth and the other pointing horizontally, the NIR camera will be orientated different on multiple flights, I'm personally interested in seeing the vegetation with it but the kids want to see space in the NIR spectrum).

I (my kids) would be able to use the RasPi as a media center to better show off the footage we capture to their friends / family (and teachers next school year) on a TV screen instead of a tiny laptop / tablet display. The plan right now is (if we can afford the helium) to do one balloon launch every 14 days threw the summer! Along with the pictures and video we will be logging altitude, temp, wind data, burst height, barometric readings and static electricity readings (threw the cloud layer only). All this data could be presented in a graphical way and embedded into the raw video footage if we were to be chosen for one of these RasPi media centers (again the large TV screen will greatly increase the amount of data displayed over the video just because of it's size over their 10" tablet screens)

Another use of the RasPi media center would be for my multirotor based FPV video's I take (I fly a medium sized Tricopter and a large size quadcopter with on-board HD video capture [arduino based running multiwii]). In either application the use of the TV for a display would be the only way the kid's grandparents could view the video, old eyes plus the budget [read ; CHEAP] tablets that we have dont have a high enough resolution for grandma to be able to see the video clearly with her old eyes (the kids dont understand that and always run to show grandma my FPV video's I load onto their tablet's anyway lol).

Please consider the Gostlin family as a recipient for one of these 10 RasPi media centers, I believe the more people we can show the videos we capture to the more my kids will get into it and the more they'll learn (because each time they view it they'll pay more and more attention to the additional non-graphical data, at least that's my thinking lol)

I would use it as my main computer and learn the operating system to do various tasks.

After proving to my Wife that "Yes, honey it really does have all your country music on the TV", I build a skunk works project to help out around the office.  After seeing that, I hope that they would fund/allow me other projects that need some embedded solutions.
