i need help or ideas on an audio signal splitter...... a 3 to 1 type i have 4 speakers but 3 different devices to hook up, 1 already has volume comtrol so im looking to build like a switch which would let the first device play regular but then when i switch it to the other device it will shut off the sound from the first device and let the 2nd device sound play thru the speakers but also control the volume for the second device......also the same for the third device

  • It is not a splitter, more a selector that you're looking for (or a mixer for a more general purpose solution).

    Easiest way would be to use some 1k-ohm resistors and combine the signals from all your inputs into a common point (if you're

    talking about analog line outputs because you've not mentioned any detail in this area).

    You could use toggle switches to switch off some inputs if needed.

    So, if only a single source has audio then that is all you'll hear, with no switch interaction needed.

    If you have multiple sources playing you can kill any of them (or all of them) by your toggle switch.

    Or use a single rotary switch - usually more expensive - to switch off all except one.
