I'm sure you've gone through a couple external computer speakers over the years (I know I have), either from the electronics in them wearing out or from upgrades. I'm curious as to if you could find a way to repurpose them into a portable boombox and how you'd go about building an amplifier instead of buying a small one. I've built a few boomboxes myself using Lepai amplifiers and pelican cases for easier access to parts, but I'd like to see what your take on it might be.
I do have some criteria for it though: Parts have to be easily accessible/interchangable in case they're damaged, long battery life (8+ hours on heavy load), Aux needed, internal storage and bluetooth optional, and very durable and easily portable (i.e, carrying handle and small), and most importantly...it has to look cool with whatever flair you want to add, because the cool factor is everything.
I guess this is a challenge more than anything? Should be a fairly easy and quick build. I hope to see you build this and hope you enjoy building it as well. Take care, and I look forward to all future episodes
