Raspberry PI Tablet (PiPad)

Hello,

After looking around on the internet I saw tons of cool raspberry pi projects but none of them were really mobile. So after doing some thinking I was wondering if you could maybe build a raspberry pi tablet. One that is like a iPad but better. Maybe with front and back facing cameras and bluetooth and built in WiFi. Of course there would have to be a built in battery. You would also have to 3D print a custom case and build in a touch screen but I figured if anyone could build something like this it would be Ben Heck!

P.S this would be one of the coolest things you have ever built!

Thank you, I hope you are able to build it!

A great idea, but someone came up with a good build at PiPad Build | MICHAEL K CASTOR/ It could be updated with a Raspberry Pi 2 and maybe a cooler case with Ben Heck on it.

It does not have a camera or built in Bluetooth though... So it is not a true tablet until it at least not now. You are right through it has been done already (kinda).

    tablet

    [tab-lit]

    noun

Also called tablet computer. a very thin, portable computer, usually battery-powered, having a touchscreen as the primary interface and input device and lacking a physical keyboard and lid.

I agree with Paul that Bluetooth does not a tablet make, but a Linux compatible USB Bluetooth dongle hopefully would be able to solve that issue. As for the camera, a standard raspberry pi camera modual should handle that aspect quite nicely.

That's really cool. Though it could most certainly be made much thinner.

    Ben?
