Unified Power Supply for PC and display

Hi Ben,

 

On my table there is a BRIX PC, a Display and a NAS. For each of them their own Power Supply and my work space if filled with them. Is there any way to make (or mod an ATX PSU) a PSU for all my devices?

I need an output of 19V 3.42A for PC, 19.5V 3.34A for Display, 12V 3A for NAS. An couple of additional USB ports for charging would be just great.

  • So what you basically need is 20V at about 10A  -15A power supply, 8A for the 19/20V and the rest for the 12V via a buck convertor from the 19/20 to 12V

     

    they can all share a common ground from what I am reading and I have seen plenty of old Laptop power supplies that could meet this need. I'm not sure an ATX power supply will be your best bet as you will need a boost convertor able to up 12V to 20V ish and at 10A for the 20V line you will need 20A ish at the 12V + the 12V supply you need increasing he load to 23 to 25A (You don't want to run at max capacity as everything will be running quite hot if you do)

     

    you could pick up a 20V 15/20A PSU from eBay to meet your needs at a reasonable price but be sure to inspect it carefully before powering it on as I have seen plenty of bad joints and solder splashed across pins t trust the quality 100% even with a good vendor

    Not sure about the amperage but a printer power supply typically STARTS at 24vdc
