Laser cutter

Hello ben, I am a mechanical engineering student in the Netherlands and on campus we have a great laser cutter. Unfortunately it in not always available and to buy one is very expensive so I thought maybe you can do a diy build.

I'd love to see something like this as well. Especially if it was made from like an old DVD burner or something up-cycled like that.

Laser cutters are usually very expensive due to the costly, high powered lasertube. Laser episodes are cheaper, but severely lacking in power. Building a laser cutter is also very dangerous as one mistake…

I would love to see this too... I have worked the last 14 years around high power lasers and still have both my eyes... The big thing to stress is safety ensuring that you emphasize the need for optical protection and even suggesting a "Laser On" light for the external of your lab so that someone doesn't walk in at the wrong time.

Edit* By high power Im talking 5-75kW lasers, just a heads up there before you ask if I mean playing with CD Players lol.
