A portable cooling device on your wrist.

Hi Ben

 

I been trying to power a peltier cooler to wear on your wrist to cool the body down. it needs to be small like a in wrist sweet band.. the problem I have designing it is the power. my question is can a peltier be power with a 3 v coin battery and made rechargeable? or you can make it on your show.

  • This isn't going to work very well !

     

    The amount of heat power a peltier device can pump depends on many things but they include the temperature differential between it's two faces and the electrical power input. Unless you have a fan or a big heatsink on the hot side of the peltier it won't be able to get heat away any better than your skin can. In fact, since you will need to put power in, unless you are careful all that happen is that the whole thing gets hot, but with one side a bit hotter than the other.

    A decent sized device will require many watts of input power so batteries are not going to be  a viable power source.

    You will do MUCH better with a wet wristband and a fan (and no peltier).
