raspberry pi style i pod touch (pi pod)

Ok I have been watching Ben's raspberry pi builds and i think a great project would be to build a raspberry pi style i pod touch (pi pod).

It should have a 3.5 inch touch screen display, maby a custom OS for music, movies gaming Minecraft etc .

Built in battery, camera or two. Then a cool 3D printed and/or lazer cut case to hold it all together also it would be great if it was as slim as possible.

    and the raspberry pi my be able to run of 3.7v but it needs to give 5v to the touch screen

    use two 3.7 then and cut of some of the charge and maybe ipod will not work so use the screen from a sat-nav and for the final casing go to shapeways for 3D printing i used them before i got my own 3D printer from deal exteme I did have to assemble it though. and also i now have read all your posts and do not think it nessacerry to restart.

    i have a few old sat-navs laying around but i really have no idea how to connect it to the raspberry pi. Any ideas on that one?

    it is resistive but i guess it will do. I was going to remove the female headers off the touch screen and alter removing everything i can from the pi,  put the pi and the touch screen as close together as i can get them without them touching each other. then if i use a model A+ i can put the battery alongside the A+ camera on top and the charging module and the rewired wi-fi dongle ether side of the camera. Then i just need to 3D pring the case and put it all together.

     

    I am going to experiment with some battery's like the ps3 controller battery to find the smallest one that will run the pi and the touch screen for a decent amount of time say 4 hours ?

     

    can anyone give me some links to any battery's that would fit the description above?

    The ps3 baterry will hopefully have enough power, the easiest way is just to test it. As for a sat nav or iPod screen, don't even try. Hacking LCDs without the correct input is almost impossible, see the Ben heck show episode 100. I also recommend you get it working before you try and slim it down. Finding out that it is broke only after you solder it in is a pain. Don't worry about 5v the regulator I linked you will make sure the power is correct. Any less power will stop your USB working as that requires a good 5v supply. Any more and you will fry the pi.

    Jacob,

         Which Pi are you thinking about? The A models are a bit less power hungry than B models. Also you must take into account the touch screen display! image
