Smart Closet

My idea is to have a some sort of circular clothes line to hold outfits (sort of like what quite a few laundromats have). These clothes will be sorted by season/weather appropriate clothing, or have some sort of NFC tag stating what season and/or weather the outfit would b appropriate for. Some microprocessor or single board computer would read in data about the time of year and current weather from an API and select the best outfit to wear. You can custom make some sort of housing where only the selected outfit is presented to the user, maybe have the conveyer of clothes behind a false wall of a wardrobe and the selected outfit triggers the door to open and the outfit slides into position via a track on the top of the inside of the wardrobe. Some sort of HMI can tell the user the expected weather and have an LED light up when the selected outfit is ready and in position.

This reminds me of Cher's closet in Clueless, but she has a program with images of all her clothes and it would show what she looked like in the outfit before she selected it. Not THAT I'd get behind.

It's getting close to real world technology.

If you leverage a bit more IoT then you could never have to worry about turning up with the same outfit at a social event ever again, or be seen in an out-of-date fashion... image

You are right that IoT could add more functionality to this. Think about having a server that remembers what outfits you passed up or selected. You could even add a voting system to say how much you liked each outfit. Based on that information the closet would select  outfits similar to the ones you ranked highly, or email you clothing items from stores you like that fit the style you like. And if your styles change just adjust your ranking of outfits.
