TBHS episode suggestion: Removing the Pi boot text/logo and replacing it with a splash screen.

I believe most people that make a project using whichever version of the Pi they want don't want to see all of that text nor the Pi logo on the screen every time their device boots up. So how could we disable all of that and put a nice splash screen in its place?

Could Felix teach us how to do that?

Thanks!

As for the splashscreen, it's possible to do, but it will show some text before it loads the splashscreen.

I even put a video to play instead of a static image.

The text is show as long as the  right components aren't loaded to display the image/video.

You can only fully remove the text when you compile your own kernel.

And I think that's a little above the scope of the show.

after a few inquires yes the splash screen is on the sd card but you are wrong about it not really having a bios. it has a simple Bios since with out a bios the system would not have the instructions to look for the sd/micro sd card and where on the sd/micro sd card to find the exc files to start up your OS. To compiling a kernel, I don't know about Ben or Karen but I think Felix might be able to.

Well, that's true, but no one changes the bios, as it's not needed.
I'm pretty sure Felix is able to compile a kernel, but I don't think the viewers can and it's a little to advanced for them.
