    Hey Trenton,

I've worked on video game consoles for a long time as part of my job, and I've gotten a pretty good look at the insides of an PS4 and an Xbox One.

This would require...A lot of work. However, I think it's technically possible depending on how crazy you're willing to get with it.

The biggest problem, easily, is the "portable" part. The PS4 and Xbone generate too much heat and draw too much power to be portable without a lot of modifications; putting both of them in the same physical housing is pretty much begging to accidentally burn your house down. At the very least, it won't live very long without a lot of pretty complicated cooling solutions, which would likely draw more power, which would mean a bigger battery, which would add more head and weight, etc.

Now, if we ditch the idea of "portable" and just go with a combo PS4 and Xbone? That actually wouldn't be too horrifically difficult. You just pull the guts of a PS4 and an Xbone and arrange them in a computer case so that they fit without colliding with each other or shorting out, get splitters for the power and disc drives, plus an internal switch for the Ethernet cable so you just have one cable extending out of the unit (or just go wireless on both).

This is way more difficult than I'm making it sound, but we had test kits at work for both those consoles and all they really are is mental boxes with a bunch of test equipment bolted on to them. The motherboards are pretty robust and should still operate okay if they're given sufficient space for cooling.

Downsides: You'd need two disc drives since as far as I know, the two systems cannot share a drive or even talk to the same one. Honestly it wouldn't really be a "hybrid" system, just a box holding two consoles together in the same place. You could probably rig them up to share USB ports but that's about it, and honestly I'd have to try this myself to confirm, I'm just speculating.

Feel free to ask any questions though and I'll answer as best I can.
