    Silly question (really basic in electronics), but Ben splices the cable from the several amp PS and then splits it to the MicroUSB and to the USB Hub.

     

    I was wondering how did he connect the power to the MicroUSB connector?  (Was there an adapter board (MicroUSB breakout board you can solder the power to) Did he unsolder the MicroUSB connector and then solder power directly to it?) 

     

    Is there any risk of too much amperage?

    James, The only silly question is one that is not asked. He connected a micro usb plug to the dc socket then just plugged it into the raspberry pi.

     

    There should not be a problem with the increased amperage because it will only draw what it needs.

     

    As you attach more peripherals the more amperage it will need.

    Yes because power suply amperage is a maximum what power suply can give out. You have to be avare not to plug in a pover suply vith more voltage on it. Mobe voltage, then needed can burn your device. So when you are selecting a power suply, voltahe has to be the same as ment for the device, and amperage the same as on the divice or more image
