    It perhaps makes it easier for people to create and edit the puzzle files for submission.

     

    An enhancement would be the ability to set up the logic puzzle using the plug board and then getting the game itself to read this as the configuration and store it to the puzzle file, however more complex as currently the controller appears to be only connected to the input and output of the logic circuit, so is unaware of what is going on between. As long as you get the logic right, then the controller won't care if you've used a NAND gate or an AND gate plus a NOT gate to achieve the logic for the puzzle.

     

    The physical logic gates could be replaced with code but then you would need an interface to allow the user to select and wire the virtual gates. A bit like a SPICE logic simulator. However this would lose some of the tactile element of the game which I think is nice to have.

     

    Another way to do the puzzle programing might be to set up a web page tool to do it. There perhaps is an opportunity here to somehow tie this in with a 'Boolean logic essentials' educational page here on the Element 14 community site.

  • Quick question: why didn't you use binary files / a hex editor to make the puzzle files? It'd basically cut out the entire parsing step.
