Karen has an idea for a project, with Felix's help to create a portable Raspberry Pi photo' booth, useful for weddings and other events. This isn't only a hardware project, it also needs the linux software to help ensure we're saving the files where we want them and even upload them to an online service! Felix takes this as an opportunity to give everyone a crash course in how to use linux on the Raspberry Pi and keep it up to date. After the design's put together, Karen talks us through her python logic to have the camera take pictures! How's your Python programming? What Pi Cam projects have you made? Or how would you have changed this one?

Nice fun simple project. I knew the pieces of code existed, but I had never tried them. It was good to see that just a few simple steps can load up useful programs on your RPi. Great job Karen and Felix…

makerkaren - I spotted this photo booth project by Matthew Mohr recently:

Perhaps not as portable, but impressive none-the-less...

    https://github.com/blackbicbiro/Photobooth/blob/master/Camera%20Build/cam.py

Built a photobooth with an on-screen countdown and a preview after the picture was taken all running from console on a pi 2

The git repositorie needs a clean up for the whole thing but the camera works. It used pi cam v2. Will work with v1 if the resolution is changed in the code

I used a second Pi to NFS to the first and slide show the pictures. One of the pi's is also an WiFi AP with DHCP to make life easy for making changes.

About 10 freinds have borrowed it now for weddings

    :-)

Raspberry Pi case (with Camera!) and RasterWeb! Time Lapse Bot 3.5 (and 4.5?) I've also used a Raspberry Pi along the picamera software to build a pretend TV camera for a museum exhibit. (Also, I love seeing Karen making things! image)
