Hi, I have an industrial grade CNC router and CAM software (VCarve Pro) and I've been asked  to cut a set of pieces from Baltic birch. I have downloaded the zip file and am slowly sifting through the contents and I could use some help. Ben has a kind of unique 2D to 3D design style.

I've impoted the DXF files into my cam software and they look OK and the scale is right, but there is no depth information for the cuts which don't go all the way through the material.

I've opened up the main DWG file in the free program Draftsight, but I have zero Autocad experience, and it's a slow process to sort it out. It imports OK into Solidworks, but it's all 2D surfaces, which would need to be made into solids.

In particular, there is a cool looking door on the  left compartment which seems to have a bunch of nifty tool storage built in, but it's not in either of the part layouts.

I've been able to find one really high res photo on flickr, but it doesn't really show the left compartment.

It would be great if we could get a little help from Ben on this, but I think we're probably on our own.

    -Jim Hart

hey ben, LOVE THE WORKBENCH ! could you please post the exact hinges, handles, etc that you used on your workbench, and update the BOM list. I am going to make one of these as soon as I can find someone in Australia that will CNC the pieces for me !

    thanks, jcolefran.

I thought this was an excellent project. I do agree that it would be nice to have access to the adobe illustrator files. The pinball project looks interesting also. I know a lot of friends that would love to have one made for them. Keep up the good work.

It would be so nice if you upload an ai file with those patterns. Are they under a CC license?

Ben, don't drive with a phone in your lug-hole, keep your hands on the wheel, and concentrate on the road. Pull over to the side if you have an important call, or use a hands-free. You're an accident waiting to happen. Yes, I know it's staged, but there's no need to look silly..
