If you need a system to tie inn all of your automation devices (lighting, temperature, security, gaming, multimedia, TV etc) on one box then check out LinuxMCE at http://wiki.linuxmce.org

I like your approach to a non-destructive setup. I've put CAT6A cables in my walls but not everywhere (like window blinds? please) so non-destructive solutions are great.

Please make sure your setups are secure though. Don't want anyone inside that's not supposed to be there:)
