Viewer challenge: fixing the 'Blinking NES'

Hello Ben. I have a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and it gets kind of annoying when the game doesn't start and the screen just 'blinks'.

So, how do i fix this? I heard from my friend that it has something to do with some kind of area-coding chip or something, but i'm afraid to open my NES for nothing.

The ultimate reason for this is the lockout chip. Upon boot, the one in the NES sychronizes with the one in the cart and then allows the game to run. So it's mostly the 4 signal pins for the lockout chip…

I disabled the 10NES chip in my NES and it no longer blinks. But now I only get a green screen, whether there's a game in it or not. Help! What do I do?
