What you have is said is correct. I have worked on dozens of xboxs and spent hundreds of hours in research. what i have found is there is ONE website that has people who really know what theyre talking about:

    http://xbox-experts.com/tutorials.php

Resoldering is one option. But a considerably cheaper, easier, and quicker method is to reflow the solder underneath the cpu and gpu. For this surprisingly all you need is about $20 in supplies and an oven. Before you go off and call me a crackpot, just hear me out.

The first thing you need to do is strip the xbox down to its bare motherboard, no heatsinks or cables attached. Then you need to place the xbox, unshielded, in an oven at a low temp <200 degrees. This link explains it better:

    http://xbox-experts.com/tutorial/oven-bake/

After that you need to make reusable heat shileds:

    http://xbox-experts.com/tutorial/u6-reusable-heat-shields-for-oven-reflows/

    http://xbox-experts.com/tutorial/reusable-heat-shield-for-an-oven-reflow/

either one is suitable, your choice

This is to protect the sensitive parts of the board, while you use a standard oven to reflow the solder underneath the chips

Here is the oven reflow guide:

    http://xbox-experts.com/tutorial/the-ultimate-xbox-360-oven-reflow-tutorial/

Let that cool, put everything back together (make sure to remember to put new thermal paste on the chips), and you should be good to go.

Now some xboxs are stubborn. if the reflow fails after a few days then you need to address the real issue, the massive design flaws of the old xbox 360:

I know this a lot of reading, BUT I have confirmed that this is the only place on the internet that deals with xboxs from a scientific approach. Read for yourself. If you're into the heatgunning and all that, the first link i gave has info on all that stuff

    Cheers!

no problem. Make sure to monitor it for the next few days. Sometimes theyll work for a bit, then die out again. Other times its fixes them permanently. remember that if it does break again you should do what it says here:
