HP Pavilion tx2000z Resistive Touchscreen Challenge

Former Member

Hello,

I have a tablet - what the old definition of tablet meant. It's the HP Pavilion tx2000z with the resistive touchscreen that twists around. It has a great stylus.

Over two years ago, I ran an HD movie on it and the whole thing crashed. It wouldn't start for some reason. So I took out the hard drive, formatted it and I'm currently using it as an external storage device.

The tablet doesn't work because there's no hard drive. But, I'm sure the touchscreen still works.

My challenge is, what could be the best way to hack the tablet and make use of the still functional resistive touchscreen...? This could be a great show idea.

Thanks,

ACP

I had that tablet, or a very similar model. It was a POS.

Resistive touchscreens are very easy to use, there's basically 2 planes of resistance, left and right, up and down, thus 4 connections on the pins.

Just keep in mind there's a certain point where the cost of reusing old electronics exceeds their value - like putting gold plated rims on a 1982 Chevette.

Hello, I have the same TX2000 screen that I want to use in my CarPC installation. I know you said that you could get a monitor or touch screen for cheap, I do have a 7" TS but I won't get the resolution as I would with the TX2000 display. I've searched and asked for a schematic but havn't received any response. If your familiar with the Display, you know it has camera, mics, controls for media control. My goal is to use the front end Centrafuse to control all. Maybe you can point me in the right direction, where I might find the pin out for the display.
