Screw posts in 3d printed parts

Perhaps I have missed it from a previous video, but I was wondering how you make your screw posts in 3d printed case parts, for example.

Do you print the screw post as a solid lump then drill it out afterwards? Or do you print it hollow then tap it out to match your screws? What's the best way?

It always seems that your screws go into the posts very easily and nicely and I was just curious.

Thanks.

Ben does this a couple different ways. Sometimes he will print solid and simply drill it out. Frequently, he'll print the hole the diameter of the shaft of the screw, but not of the threads. This way the threads of the screw dig into the plastic, but there is enough plastic missing to accommodate the shaft of the screw. If that's not enough, Ben does have a tap. I will say that when he prints with a hole, he does often have to go back with a drill bit to remove a little more material to make the hole size more precise as the shrinking of the filament can be a bit unpredictable.
