Hi Ben,

I would like to build a system in my house where whenever people are in rooms the lights are on and when they leave they go out, also i would like to have it where each person maybe has a transmitter on them so that when they enter a room the system plays the style of music they like and maybe even adjusts the temp in the room to their preference.

If you have any ideas on how to do this or if you could please do a show on this it would be amazing.

Its called home automation and there are systems on the market that will do exactly what your wanting and more. They just cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The lights thing is easy enough with a motion sensor.When you get into adjusting temp settings and start playing music you get into a much more complicated and expencive setup.

Probably the easiest way would be to set up an RFID reader at the door of the room. Then you scan your RFID tag the system could turn on your sound system and call up your play list. Adjusting the air temp may be tricky. Unless your talking the whole house/apartment and not just a single room. Unless you have a place where each room has its own temp control. You can find al sorts of projects online dealing with various micro controllers, RFID readers and even some thermostat controlled with a micro controller.
