Noob questions about 3D printer build

Ben, I just discovered your show on YouTube [Build a 3D Printer...] revisited.

 

I have a few questions about your build-

 

1. Power supply- is it a rechargeable battery or direct plug in?

2. The SD Card- could this be modified to accept multiple format removable storage? (USB, micro SD, etc)

3. What case materials could/should be used and pros/cons?

4. Could a rooted andriod device be used for a control panel, or is there some other touch screen option?

5. Have you addressed any aesthetics for this build?

6. What about a filament feeder- perhaps a swing out arm to hold the spool?

7. Is there any way to "automate" the Y axis tray movement for closure?

    1 - I believe its a computer power supply so direct plug in, no battery

    2 - Micro probably with an adapter, USB no, the SD card capability was built into the printer firmware and I don't think any of them support USB flash drives

    3 - 

    4 - Yes, people are doing things like this, you'd might need to modify the code a little (for the different serial port) but an android phone can send serial commands over bluetooth and depending on your control board maybe you can toss a bluetooth module on there

    7 - Yes you could either mod the firmware to add a button to do a specific movement, or you can call up a gcode "pack" file from the SD card to have it return to a packable position
