My Portable Raspberry Pi

I recently started working on a portable raspberry pi project of my own using retropi as the OS, an STSND security tft 4.3 in monitor from amazon, a 7.4V LIPO battery(2200maH).

After taking the monitor out of its case and hooking it up to the battery, along with the raspberry pi connected by the composite video lead, it only flashes AV1 In in the upper right corner briefly and then shows nothing.

Ive tried hooking the screen to 12V and hooking it up to a different composite source but cannot get video to show up on the screen.

Has anyone else messed with these screens or have any idea why its doing this?

My thought would be wondering if the Pi is booting all the way. Do you have a good 5V going into the Pi?

Yes I have it running from a wall charger. I can get the pi to boot normally with it hooked to HDMI. Just not on the screen.

So no matter what the screen doesn't work, you've tried it with 12V and a non pi source?

Not really sure then. I thought maybe something with the grounds but I took the one I have and it does appear to tie the ground/shield of all the inputs to the ground wire that goes to the board. I wasn't sure if they did that on the video because your car runs on a single power source, but sure enough they did their due diligence and connected all the grounds.

Maybe it needs a signal going to the reverse line to turn on with yours?

Thats a good idea, but upon trying it, it didnt change anything. I went back on amazon and re-read some of the reviews, and I beleive it may just be the screen went dead. Apparently its not a very good screen and is a common issue with many others. I ordered a different screen and I am going to see where this one gets me.

So I got my new screen in and upon testing it, found my old screen must have died on me. New one works great. With the bigger case inveloping the screen I was able to fitmy entire portable in the case as well. Thanks for the help.

Ben used a teensy board programmed as a USB HID device to connect the buttons/joysticks to the Pi
