My fathers garage

HELLO Ben!

My father owns a huge car and when he is parking in the garage he is unable to see the distance between the bumper of the car and the wall of the garage. So I am planning to make a mechanism that senses the distance between the bumper and the wall and warns the driver if he comes too close to the wall.If you know how to make this project please tell me how to make it.

                                                                                                                                          From Andy.

    Hi Andy,

While you construct your project you can do what my Dad did. He hung a tennis ball on a string from the ceiling and positioned it so that it just touched his window when his car was in the proper place in the garage. When the car wasn't in the garage there was always a chance that someone might walk into the suspended ball but since it was soft and brightly colored this was seldom a problem. Building the electronics project will be a lot more fun but the ball will solve the immediate problem.

    John

    Pinched my idea image

Cheap easy to read and requires no batteries or instructions. Not sure it can be easily improved upon?!
