Sensor to detect Human Presence

gunaseelan
gunaseelan over 11 years ago

Hello BEN,

Is there any sensor to detect human presence . Am aware of PIR (Passive Infra Red) sensor , which would human motion but not the human presence . Another way is by using image processing technique. Kindly suggest me a better solution image .

Thanks.

There are 4 main technologies that can meet these requirements - ultrasonic, video, radar, and lidar. You can find many commercial systems based on these technologies, including wireless versions. Search…

You're double posting here: Using Omron Thermal Sensor and here: Using Omron Thermal Sensor, which is confusing. I've commented on those threads to redirect people here

This component seems to do what you need: Infrared Array Sensor: Grid-EYE | Panasonic

Not available from element14 or Newark, but Digikey can provide them : AMG8832 Panasonic Electronic Components | 255-3506-1-ND | DigiKey

The solution depend on the enviromental conditions. Are there ony humans which can be detected or are there animals too? How big is the area to supervise? what kind of warm object can be in the area?

Detecting the presens of a person in a car for example is different fom the same question for a room with oly one door or a field.

In a Car a thermal system is not the best selection, because it would recognize the swtched on seat heater too or the sun heated the seat. (or the dog lies on the seat.)

For a room with only a door is possible to supervise just the door, or use the named IR detection systems form Omron or Panasonic.

For a greater area an image processing system would be the bet choise.

Just tell a litle bit more about your problem, then you get better answers.

Also capacitive or inductive circuits are often used to detect human presence need an object. They are used for safety sensors on industrial machinery.

    Micropower Impulse Radar.

It is lower power than a cell phone, but it can detect people through concrete and under rubble.

    http://www.internetsec.com/www/video/Werne_files/Werne.pdf

It can also be low cost.

    Dear Douglas / others

I am also looking for a sensor to detect both - presence of a person or a vehicle behind a mining equipment like a dump truck or say a wheel loader. The sensor should detect say upto 8 mtrs behind the truck and should cover the entire width of the dump truck which means a horizontal angle of 120 degrees. The operating frequency has to be in free band of 2.4Ghz or 5.85 Ghz. The person or vehicle could be either moving or stationary. There are very few companies which produce such sensors which have to be IP 67 and with good vibration resistance. Does anyone know any source for such product / solutions?....vipul from india
